Where Are My Furnace’s Air Filters?
I have a Heil furnace, model NTC6050FBA1 and I cannot find the filter! I looked through the manual and where it says filters are supposed to be there aren’t any (well, not removable filters anyway.) However there are several sponge-like things glued throughout the furnace. I assume these are the not filters, but rather insulation for the furnace.
Is there some place I might be missing when I look, or is it possible that I bought a condo with a furnace missing its filters? I can’t even find a spot where a filter might go…

Look where your owners manual says the filter should be. There should be an opening with about a 1 inch wide track that a filter would slide into. If there is no filter there you will probably need to measure the opening. Slide a tape measure in along the track until it stops. Then from the top of the opening to the bottom. You will most likely come up with a measurement of 16X20 or 20X25 or something close…. so your filter will be __X__X 1.
Another thought is that in a hall or ceiling where you have a large vent (this is called a “return” grill) you may have whats know as a filter grill. This is great.. two small clips on the side or end of the grill slide them to open the grill and pop in the new filter.
Heres to the clean air.

The filter should be at the floor level where the cold air plenum meets the bottom of the furnace. Good luck
